Michael Martindell

Michael Martindell works out of Holyoke, MA, where he produces fine art metal sculptures inspired by the Saturday morning cartoons of his youth, old Batman comics, and anything strange, unusual, grotesque, and creepy.

Michael began welding sculptures in the mid 1990’s at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, under the tutelage of Professor Dorrance Hill, and has been a working artist since graduating in 1995, creating pieces for galleries, private collections, shows, and his own amusement.

Michael’s teaching style at Snow Farm is an immediate, hands-on approach, where students are first taught the basics of cutting, welding, and grinding metal, followed by lessons based on the specific needs of their project, or by a personal interest in a particular process or technique. Michael aims to create a safe, fun, industrious environment where students are encouraged to work hard, laugh among the sparks, and empower themselves through the process of metalworking.
