Learn to create linen cloth from the flax plant using 18th century methods and traditional tools: a flax brake, scutching tools, and hackles. Cassie will present an overview of growing and retting the plant, and students will learn to dress a distaff, spin the fiber to linen thread, natural dye their linen, and weave a sample of linen cloth on a loom. Comfort operating a wheel and basic spinning skills recommended. There is no supply fee but a $45 kit fee is payable to the instructor at the time of the class.
