Wendy Hollender

Wendy Hollender holds a BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the New York Botanical Garden. She is the founder of Drawing in Color which focuses on her botanical artwork and teaching programs. Wendy's botanical artwork is published extensively for a variety of uses including museums, parks, conservation groups, magazines, newspapers, and commercial and decorative products. Her work was included in the 13th International Exhibition at Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, and in exhibitions at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, the Smithsonian National Museum for Natural History, and the US Botanic Garden. She received a silver medal from the Royal Horticultural Society of London in 2007.
Wendy is an instructor of Botanical Art and Illustration at the New York Botanical Garden and leads workshops in exotic locations such as Hawaii, many nature preserves, botanical gardens, arts centers and colleges around the country and internationally.
She is the author of BOTANICAL DRAWING IN COLOR: A Basic Guide to Mastering Realistic Form and Naturalistic Color and The Practice of Botanical Drawing. She illustrated the book Foraging & Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook by Dina Falconi which has won two gold medals to date.
