Snow Farm offers a unique residency opportunity during our quietest season of the year. For those who work best in solitude and peacefulness, pack up your art supplies, warm clothing, hot chocolate, and groceries to spend a week (or more) in the Snow Farm cottage and the studio of your choice. Be inspired by snow falling on evergreen trees, look for snow prints from bunnies, and enjoy a clear view of the stars in the winter sky. For experienced artists who don’t mind the unpredictability of New England weather (and a little shoveling now and then), a Snow Farm winter residency is the ultimate way to slow down and feel grounded in creativity.
Studios
The following studios are available for the winter residency: 2D mixed media, 3D mixed media, flameworking, flat glass, ceramics, metalsmithing, fibers, and woodworking. All studios are heated; 2D, 3D, ceramics, flat glass, and fiber have running water, but woodworking, and flameworking do not. Water in a 5-gallon bucket can be provided in those studios if needed. The studio page offers a detailed description the equipment in each space. Residents choose one studio for the duration of their stay.
The Cottage
The cozy Cape Cod style cottage, with one bedroom (two twin beds), a sitting area, a private bathroom with shower (no bathtub), and kitchenette, is a highly sought after housing choice by students attending workshops. The cottage has recently been spruced up with a new floor, new beds and couch, and other decor touches to make it even more special. For the residencies, linens, dishware, and basic cookware will be provided in the cottage.
The cottage has a nearby parking space and is walking distance from all the studios. The driveway and road into Snow Farm will be plowed; paths between buildings will be cleared as necessary on weekdays. For snowfalls on Saturday or Sunday, ice cleats and a shovel will be available in the cottage.
2026 Dates & Details
The residency period is one week, from 2pm on Monday to 10am the following Monday. Generally from the middle of January through March. 2026 dates will be announced later this year.

If severe weather delays your arrival at Snow Farm, you can receive a pro-rated refund of up to two days. Early departure will not be refunded.
How to Apply
To apply for a winter residency, complete a simple online application with a non-refundable $25 application fee. The purpose of the application is to assure that our studio can meet your needs and that you can use the equipment safely. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and residencies will be awarded for as long as space is available. When a week has been filled, the website will be updated, and applicants will be added to a waitlist.
Residents will have 24-hour access to their studio. On Mondays, upon arrival, the Snow Farm staff will provide a studio orientation, and during the week, some staff will be available to troubleshoot if necessary. By the time Friday rolls around, the resident should be fully comfortable being alone on campus for the weekend. Residents are expected to bring their own materials and supplies.
The 2026 application period will open later this year.
