Turkey Land Cove Foundation Merges with Snow Farm – The New England Craft Program
For Immediate Release: September 30, 2024
Announcing the merger of Turkey Land Cove Foundation of Edgartown, MA on Martha’s Vineyard with Snow Farm – the New England Craft School, Inc. in Williamsburg, MA, effective August 26th, 2024. Snow Farm will continue the legacy of Turkey Land Cove Foundation’s visionary founder Kitty Burke through its craft education opportunities and residency program https://www.snowfarm.org/residencies.
Snow Farm has been serving the creative community with residential craft programs since 1986. Along with our 200 art and craft workshops, Snow Farm offers three different artist residencies in the winter, spring, and fall which provide the opportunity for artists to escape their day-to-day world and seek inspiration in a studio of their choice at Snow Farm’s charming campus based at the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. The support that Turkey Land Cove Foundation has provided to women over the years is aligned well with Snow Farm’s goal of awakening and nourishing the life-changing power of creativity.
Janet Dunlap, President of the Board of Directors of Snow Farm stated, “It was an honor to work with the Board of Directors of Turkey Land Cove Foundation to carry their vision into the future. This year, more than 800 women will join us on Snow Farm’s campus. Most of our programs are open to students of all levels and our instructors are passionate working artists. We believe that creating is powerful and that creating in a community can be life-changing.”
Kathy Tarantola, Turkey Land Cove Foundation Board Member, shared, “Turkey Land Cove Foundation offered a working residency for motivated women to pursue their professional, educational and/or artistic goals away from the distractions of everyday life. We provided a quiet home for residents to achieve progress toward a defined goal, complete a project, and develop tools to help propel their life in a new direction. We’re grateful for the over 200 residents that have been impacted by TLC, and wish them all continued success. The decision to close Turkey Land Cove Foundation was a difficult one. But with the passing of our founder, Kitty Burke, we felt strongly that it was the right decision. We wanted to honor Kitty’s legacy of helping women in transition, whether in business, the arts, literature, or other entrepreneurial or creative endeavors, and we believe the decision to merge with Snow Farm reflects that.”
