Woodturning: Lidded Boxes
Use spindle turning for the outside and end-grain hollowing for the inside to make small round boxes from a single piece of wood. The lids can fit with a tight seal, useful for carrying in a pocket or purse, or be left loose, for a table or dresser. The boxes can be the size of a fist or small enough to fit inside a closed hand. Decorate with beads and coves or leave smooth and graceful. A coat of oil and wax will make it shine.
